I have owned a series of cameras that sounds like the history of photography. From the Kodak Brownie in 1928 to a 35mm Argus, to a 5x7" Graphlex to a 4x5" Speed Graphic, to a 35mm Leica, to a Nikon F, plus several more Nikons, then to my first digital camera in 1994 (a one megapixel camera), upgrading cameras every two or three years as they improved, from three megagixels to six megapixels, and at present an 18 megapixel Canon with five lenses.
In 1960, I joined the Boston Camera Club, where I discovered Fine Art Photography. I won many ribbons and trophies in various club, interclub, national, international competitions and exhibitions over the next ten years. In The PSA sponsored International Photo Salons, I earned the highest rating of Five Stars. In 1970 I was presenting photo educational programs to local and regional photo organizations. From 1975 to 1985, I presented over 400 programs at camera clubs, plus several all-day photo seminars from Boston to Los Angeles, and photo educational programs at the PSA annual conventions.
I have been a member of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) since 1970 and have held various chairmanships over the years. I was awarded the high honor of "Associate" (APSA) by the Photographic Society of America in 1974 and in 1976, was awarded the title of "Artiste" (AFIAP) by the Photographic International de L'Art in Europe.
After I retired in 1978 and moved to Cape Cod, I opened the first photo school on Cape Cod. I also went into stock photography and was represented by five companies. My photos were sold for posters, record covers, magazine and newspaper ads, greeting cards and calendars, book illustrations, and magazine covers. My color slides sold for as high as $5,000. At present, I am represented by Getty Images.
I have been into computers since 1984 and at present, I run two computers in my home. One for the Internet, email etc, and the other is used offline for finances and photo editing with several different editing programs. In 2009, I started to produce digital photo-educational slideshows to present to local camera clubs, and have completed over 15 shows using ProShow Gold software.
